Erin Weir joined Refugees International in January 2007. As RI�s Peacebuilding Associate, Ms. Weir focuses on issues of civilian protection and humanitarian space within peacekeeping missions, as well as overarching peacekeeping and peacebuilding issues. As Coordinator of the Partnership for Effective Peacekeeping (PEP) Ms. Weir engages members of the DC and international peacekeeping communities on issues such as U.S. stabilization and reconstruction capacities and U.S. participation in international peace operations. Prior to joining RI Erin spent one year as a Research Associate with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center in Accra, Ghana. In this capacity, Ms. Weir conducted field research on UNMIL in Liberia and organized conferences of regional military and civil society representatives. She has also published pieces on the effects of integrated missions on the humanitarian imperative as well as strategic forced migration. Ms. Weir has a BA. (Hon.) in Political and Development Studies from Queen's University in Canada and an MSc in International and European Politics from the University of Edinburgh. She is fluent in French and has a basic knowledge of Spanish. |
