Francis X. Burns, Vice President, has experience encompassing a diverse range of commercial litigation and valuation engagements. He has consulted to Fortune 100 companies as well as entrepreneurial firms in the manufacturing, consumer products, and financial services sectors. Mr. Burns has evaluated damages in a wide variety of litigation contexts, including patent and trademark infringement, breach of contract, business interruption, and product liability claims. He has testified in federal and state courts on economic damages issues. With regard to business valuation, Mr. Burns has authored appraisal reports for use in the arbitration of shareholder disputes, joint venture negotiations, estate planning, and in response to tax litigation. He has valued manufacturing businesses, investment holding companies, and family limited partnerships addressing issues of minority interest discounts, control premiums, and adjustments for lack of marketability. Mr. Burns has testified as a valuation expert in U.S. Tax Court on behalf of both taxpayers and the Internal Revenue Service. |
