Dr. Frank Sacks is Professor of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Harvard School of Public Health. He treats patients who have hyperlipidemia at Brigham and Women's Hospital and teaches on this topic at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Sacks' research has focused on human lipoprotein metabolism biochemical epidemiology involving lipoproteins and fatty acids and clinical trials on drug therapy and nutrition in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Sacks is studying new lipoprotein fractions in relation to coronary heart disease and stroke in populations. Dr. Sacks has authored or coauthored 102 original research papers in his field of research and serves as an advisor to several research institutions and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Sacks has been principal investigator on several multicenter clinical trials in the cardiovascular field including CARE and DASH-Sodium and has been responsible for securing significant grant funding for his research efforts.
