Mr. Merola has spent his entire legal career at ST&G. In addition to his work with debtor clients, Mr. Merola specializes in matters that involve litigation and litigation strategy. Mr. Merola's practice includes the representation of debtors, both in and out of court; asset and business acquirers; creditor and equity committees; and parties to bankruptcy related litigation. Most recently, Frank served as lead counsel to the Equity Committee in the bankruptcy case of USA Capital First Trust Deed Fund LLC, in which his constituency recovered approximately 75% of their original investment, in cash. For his work in the USA Commercial Mortgage Company cases, the Turnaround Management Association recognized Mr. Merola as co-recipient of the Large Company Transaction of the Year Award for 2007. Mr. Merola attended Georgetown University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Cum Laude, in 1985. He attended UCLA Law School where he earned his J.D. in 1988. While at UCLA, he was active in the Moot Court Honors Program, was recognized as a Distinguished Advocate (1987), and eventually served on Moot Court Honors Program Executive Board of Judges (1987-1988). Frank was admitted to both the Order of the Coif and Order of the Barristers. Mr. Merola is a longtime member of the Turnaround Management Association and currently serves on its Board of Directors. He also currently serves as a Director of the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals. Frank is a frequent speaker at bankruptcy and insolvency seminars. Most recently, Frank spoke at the Distressed and Turnaround Investment Forum and the TMA/The Deal Distressed Investing Conference. |
