Frank Tempesta is president of Textron Systems Corporation, which includes Textron Defense Systems, Textron Marine & Land, HR Textron, Lycoming Engines, and Overwatch Systems. Textron Systems is a key supplier and prime contractor to the defense and aerospace industry, providing ground- and air-launched munitions and sensor systems; surveillance systems; aircraft, missile, and turret control systems and components; specialty marine and armored vehicles, intelligence products and piston aircraft engines. In addition to leading Textron Systems, Tempesta also serves on Textron's Transformation Leadership Team, comprised of the top executives of the corporation.
Prior to assuming his current position, Tempesta served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Textron Systems, where he had oversight responsibility for each of Textron Systems� operating units and successfully ran the strategic planning and day-to-day operations of this growing, billion-dollar business.
Tempesta joined Textron Systems in 1967 as part of Avco Systems, which was acquired by Textron in 1985. During his more than 40-year career with the company, he has held a variety of progressively responsible engineering, program management, operations and leadership responsibilities. This included serving as the company�s senior and then executive vice president of Aerospace and Defense, as well as its senior vice president of Military Products, and also as vice president of Integrated Product Development. Tempesta brings vast expertise in working with both domestic and foreign government and military customers, as well as large Aerospace and Defense prime contractors.
Tempesta received both his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, and served as a Captain in the United States Army. He is a member of Northeastern University�s Industrial Advisory Board, a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Munitions Industrial Base Task Force, and participates in numerous aerospace and defense associations.
