Starting at Berkey Photo, Fred turned his childhood hobby of photography into a successful career spanning over 30 years.
In 1977, Fred founded California-based Lerner Processing Labs, a wholesale photofinishing company servicing camera stores, which he sold to Qualex (Eastman Kodak) in 1992. For the next seven years, he served as President and CEO of Kodak Processing Labs. In Australia, Fred co-founded Rabbit Photo, Metro Photo and digitalMAX. Fred is Past President of Photo Marketing Association International (PMAI), the photographic industry's worldwide trade association.
Fred graduated from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. He also attended graduate studies at Indiana University, New York University and California State University. Fred fondly remembers his past activities as an Eagle Scout and a ham radio operator, "the forerunner to the Internet." He describes himself as an avid family man, photographer, boater and fisherman. |
