Gail Currey was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Lucasfilm Animation in February 2004.
Currey most recently served as Vice President and Executive in Charge of Production at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), overseeing many of the company's feature film visual effects productions, including Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, both of which earned Academy Award nominations for best achievement in visual effects last year.
Currey served as Chief Operations Officer at ILM from 1998 to 2002 where she was responsible for the daily management of the computer graphics, animation and technology departments involved in the production of imagery for ILM's feature film and commercial clients. She began her career at ILM as the physical production coordinator and became involved in the growing field of computer graphics on Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
During her career at ILM, Currey was a key member of a team that ultimately redefined the way visual effects are created. Her work on groundbreaking films such as Jurassic Park and Perfect Storm played a pivotal role in the transformation of ILM into the largest, most well known and most respected digital production company in the world.
Currey holds a B.A. degree in Liberal Arts and a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the Art Institute of Chicago.
