Galan, a resident of Westerly, is executive vice president of the Bank's Wealth Management division with offices in Providence, Westerly, Narragansett, RI and Wellesley, Ma. He is responsible for establishing and executing strategy for the Bank's Trust and Investment area, Phoenix Investment Management, and The Weston Financial Group.
Galan joined Washington Trust in August 2005 from The Managers Funds, LLC where he served as Chief Operating Officer of the Norwalk, CT-based firm. During his tenure with The Managers Funds, the firm grew from $2.7 to $8.5 billion in assets under management. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of the Management Committee of Harbor Capital Management Company in Boston, MA. He also held various positions at Fleet Investment Advisors in Boston, MA from 1992-2000, including serving as Chief Operating Officer during a period in which assets under management grew from $25 billion to more than $100 billion.
He received his master's degree in Economics/Finance from Trinity College in 1991 and a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in 1985. He has earned professional designations as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Galan is a member of the Boston Economic Club, the CFA Institute, and the Boston Society of Security Analysts. |
