Dr. Gale Bateman received his BS in dairy science from Virginia Tech in 1991. He then attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for his MS in Animal Sciences in 1994 then moved to Clemson University for his PhD in Nutrition in 1996.
Dr. Bateman worked as a postdoctoral research assistant for 3 years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Animal Sciences. He was an assistant professor with a joint appointment from Louisiana State University and the LSU Agricultural Center from 2000 until joining Akey in 2005 as a dairy nutritionist. His research has focused on protein supplementation for lactating and dry dairy cows along with computer modeling of nutrient requirements and supply in dairy cattle.
He has authored or co-authored over 18 refereed publications and numerous abstracts and extension/popular press articles. He is a member of the American Dairy Science Association and the American Society for Animal Sciences. |
