Mr. Fitzgerald is Director of Tax and Financial Planning Services at Fitzgerald, Snyder & Co., P.C. He has more than twenty-five years' experience in providing a full range of tax services to closely-held business owners, high net worth individuals and charitable organizations. Mr. Fitzgerald is responsible for tax engagements related to the acquisition and disposition of multimillion-dollar closely-held companies; the syndication of real estate, cable-television, and oil and gas ventures valued in excess of $25 million; and the development, implementation, administration and tax compliance of retirement plans with assets in excess of $500 million. He has served as an expert witness in the area of attorney malpractice with respect to estate planning. He has provided financial and estate planning services to high-net-worth individuals, concentrating on those owning closely-held businesses. Finally, he has provided business valuation services in the areas of estate planning and taxation, mergers and acquisitions, and owner disputes.
Mr. Fitzgerald also coordinates FS's in-house seminars for both clients and firm personnel. He has been a speaker at the Washington, D.C., chapter of the National Association of Accountants Annual Tax Seminar, the Annual Joint Tax Seminar of the Fairfax Bar Association, the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the George Mason University M.S. in Taxation program, and at numerous other seminars sponsored by the Virginia Society of CPAs. Additionally, he has presented tax seminars to public company employees in the areas of income and tax planning.
In 1998, Mr. Fitzgerald successfully completed the certification process with the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) to earn his designation of Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). In 1999, Mr. Fitzgerald successfully completed the certification process with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to earn his designation of Personal Financial Specialist (PFS). In 2000, Mr. Fitzgerald successfully completed the certification process with the AICPA to earn his designation of Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV). Additionally, Mr. Fitzgerald holds NASD Series 7 & 24 professional licenses.
Mr. Fitzgerald is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and its Tax, Personal Financial Planning and Business Valuation Divisions, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the District of Columbia Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a member of the Board of Directors, and Finance Committee Chairman of the Washington Area Ronald McDonald House. Mr. Fitzgerald received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree with distinction from Virginia Tech and a Master of Science in Taxation degree from American University.
