Dr. Burkhart is a consulting neuropsychologist at Pine Rest�s Psychological Consultation Center as well as Pine Rest City Clinic and the Psychiatric Medical Unit at Saint Mary�s Health Care. He joined Pine Rest in 1999 after managing his own private practice for 15 years. Dr. Burkhart completed his undergraduate degree at Calvin College and went on to earn a Master of Applied Science degree in Psychology from University of Waterloo, Ontario and a PhD in Human Clinical Neuropsychology from University of Windsor, Ontario. He is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology with the American Board of Professional Psychology.
Dr. Burkhart�s clinical interests include cognitive and psychological changes associated with various neurological conditions and treatments. His research interests include the effect various medical conditions and treatments have on higher cognitive functions.
Dr Burkhart is an active speaker and author on topics related to neuropsychology. He serves as chairperson of both Pine Rest�s Institutional Review Board and the Psychology Department. He is also chief psychologist at Saint Mary�s Health Care. He is a member of various organizations including the National Register of Health Services Providers in Psychology.

Medical conditions affecting cognitive function including head injuries, epilepsy, Parkinson�s disease, multiple sclerosis, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, cerebrovascular disease, and exposure to toxins.
Early diagnosis of dementia (e.g., Alzheimer�s disease) in order to maximize the effects of treatments.
