Geoff Alexander is a pioneer in the health risk assessment field. In the 1980s, he and his partners created one of the first health risk assessments, the "Healthier People" HRA, working with the Centers for Disease Control and the Jimmy Carter Presidential Center at Emory University. Mr. Alexander created the risk calculation engine and worked with the CDC epidemiologists to translate the work of 200 research scientists into an implemental set of risk algorithms. Mr. Alexander has been shepherding the creation of population health analyses (PHAs) and other health assessments ever since, including customized assessments for the U.S. Army, the Indian Health Service, IBM, Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, Digital Equipment Corporation, Texas Utilities and many others. As Gordian's Chief Science Officer, Mr. Alexander oversees the development of new content for all of Gordian's stock PHAs, as well as all of the custom health assessments Gordian creates for customers. As a co-founder, partner and software developer of Eris Associates (later acquired by Gordian), he played an integral role in the creation of the first rendition of the proprietary survey development toolbox now known by Gordian as GEM. Mr. Alexander was a longtime member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Prospective Medicine, and worked with other members of the Board to create the SPM Handbook of Health Assessments, which includes two chapters written by Mr. Alexander. |
