George B. Abney focuses his practice on the defense of clients in both criminal and civil tax controversy matters, as well as in white-collar criminal cases. A former Federal prosecutor frequently honored for outstanding ability, Mr. Abney possesses considerable litigation experience, having tried over fifty cases in including those tried to juries and before judges, as well as having argued hundreds of motions in Federal Courts throughout the United States. Mr. Abney represents clients in both criminal and civil tax controversy matters, as well as white-collar criminal defense cases. He has successfully represented clients in Grand Jury investigations and IRS criminal tax investigations and has also successfully represented clients in numerous civil tax matters Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Abney joined the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice through the Attorney General's Honors Program. While with the Justice Department, Mr. Abney prosecution numerous criminal tax offenses in Federal Judicial Districts throughout the southeastern United States. He also served as Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in Tucson, Arizona and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Florida where he prosecuted a wide variety of criminal matters ranging from financial fraud offenses to narcotics and firearms offenses, and drafted appeals before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. |
