As chief information and chief technology officer at Forrester Research George Orlov is responsible for ensuring that the company's IT strategy is tied directly to the company's overall business goals and mission. This includes leading the implementation of all major IT initiatives managing organizations responsible for technology infrastructure and application development and ensuring compliance with all international governmental regulations including Sarbanes-Oxley.
George has more than 28 years of experience in technology and consulting of which the last 10 years were in executive leadership positions in technology organizations. Prior to joining Forrester George served as the CIO and CTO for Callisma a startup providing professional services dedicated to architecting designing implementing and optimizing the world's largest networks and technology infrastructures. SBC Communications acquired Callisma in 2003.
Prior to his tenure at Callisma George was the VP/CIO of Pacific Gas & Electric in San Francisco and the VP/CIO of ComEd (now Exelon) in Chicago. As the most senior technology executive at these Fortune 500 companies he led teams responsible for large complex and mission-critical network computing application and business process change environments as they prepared for and executed the transitions accelerated by rapid energy industry restructuring.
George began his professional career at Simulation Physics where he designed real-time nuclear instrumentation for optimizing survival of advanced reentry vehicles. Afterwards he joined SAIC consulting in nuclear materials safeguards. For the next 12 years as an independent consultant he gained extensive experience in the management of large complex projects and began to concentrate on the application of information technologies to solve business issues.
George earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge Mass. |
