Mr. Carleton is a Senior Managing Director of Island and is the head of Island�s Real Estate Investment and Finance Group. Mr. Carleton joined Island in July 2003.
Prior to joining Island, Mr. Carleton was with Insignia Financial Group, Inc. since 1992, most recently as a Senior Managing Director of Insignia's financial services subsidiary where he focused primarily on Insignia's opportunity funds that invest primarily in securitized real estate debt. While at Insignia, he also played an integral role in structuring and executing the securitization of billions of dollars of debt secured by real estate controlled by Insignia during the 1990s, including the first stand-alone securitized multifamily loan pool. For 12 years prior to Insignia, Mr. Carleton, held various management positions at Travelers Insurance, managing debt and equity real estate investments.
With Island, Mr. Carleton continues to be responsible for overall portfolio management for the two opportunity funds that Island acquired from Insignia, including identifying and underwriting investment acquisition opportunities and formulating investment exit strategies for those funds.
Mr. Carleton received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Emory University, Florida Atlantic University and American University in 1979, 1981, and 1988, respectively, where he majored in Chemistry, Finance/Accounting and, Real Estate Development |
