George Lauro is the Managing Director for Wasserstein Venture Capital's Palo Alto (CA) office. He joined Wasserstein Ventures from IBM, where he served as Director of Rapid Commercialization at Corporate Headquarters and was one of IBM's senior technology strategists. Mr. Lauro developed strategies for dozens of IBM startups ranging from Radio Frequency IC's (RFICs) to Internet Applications and Pervasive Computing. He was a central architect of IBM's Silicon Germanium (SiGe) wireless IC strategy and was Director of Business Development of the IBM's SiGe Wireless Products Business. Mr. Lauro held operating roles at Motorola, IBM and GE. He is now on the board of directors of SandCraft (MIPS-based control plane processors), Cognigine (OC768 network packet processors), Qusion (Indium Phosphide integrated photonic modules), Peregrine (silicon on sapphire mixed signal chips), Blaze Networks (photonics and optical transceivers), Triscend (configurable embedded processors), and Mockingbird (IP telephony platforms). Mr. Lauro completed a B.S.E.E. from Brown, an M.B.A. from Wharton and graduate work in Astronautics at MIT. |
