George McCabe had already been a consultant to CMA for many years when he joined the company full time in June 2005 to generate growth in the areas of science and federal business. As Vice President of Federal Business, he identifies opportunities for CMA software applications and government service capabilities. He investigates new technologies and directs development of their strategic value. From our office in Hyattsville, MD, Mr. McCabe oversees regional business operations, manages federal contracts, and oversees prime contractor business relationships. Prior to joining CMA full-time, Mr. McCabe was for 15 years a research scientist at NASA. Working at the Goddard Space Flight Center, he designed and fabricated scientific instrumentation that flies in space on two Earth satellite missions and a mission to Pluto. He created ground data processing systems for instruments on these three space missions as well. He worked on ground-based observations of the 1991 Solar Total Eclipse, 1994 Solar Annular Eclipse, Comet Shoemaker-Levy-9 impact of the planet Jupiter, Comet Hale-Bopp, and experiments coordinated with the Galileo spacecraft encounter at Jupiter. He performed airborne infrared remote sensing of Earth for atmospheric studies in the US and South Africa. Mr. McCabe has worked in government research for a total of 18 years, first at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC, and later at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. His areas of technical expertise include optical remote sensing, ground and flight data systems, and science data processing. |
