Gerhard Kurz is the retired chairman and CEO of Seabulk International, a global offshore service and leading US tanker company. He joined Seabulk after a 36 year career with Mobil Oil, retiring in 2000 as President of Mobil Shipping & Transportation. Widely recognized for his maritime leadership, Mr. Kurz has been chairman and director of key industry organizations, including the Oil Companies International Marine Forum, Marine Preservation Association, and the American Bureau of Shipping. Mr. Kurz currently serves on the boards of Eletson Corporation, the Seamen's Church Institute, and the Coast Guard Foundation as well as SeaMobile Inc., Fox-Tek, the Diamond Castle Holdings and Castalia Partners hedge funds, and the International Advisory Board to the Panama Canal Authority. Mr. Kurz has received numerous awards and honors including the International Maritime Hall of Fame award, the US Coast Guard Award and Medal for Meritorious Public Service, the Order of the USS St. Mary's Medal from the State University of New York Maritime College, the Seafarer�s House International Golden Compass Award, the Seamen's Church Institute�s Silver Bell Award, and was named the 1999 Seatrade "Personality of the Year."Mr. Kurz holds a BS in economics from the University of Wales and an MBA from New York University. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. |
