Gerard D. Paez is a senior level executive with over 20 years of hands-on experience in financial restructuring, capital raising, debt/sub-debt financing and investment banking. Gerry is skilled in leading financial restructurings in a wide range of industries, with particular expertise in the healthcare, manufacturing, communications and technology sectors.
With a strong financial background and diversified industry perspective, Gerry has been instrumental in numerous successful turnarounds and refinancings. In a recent engagement, Gerry was involved in the highly-publicized, successful 363 sale of the largest manufacturer and distributor of specialty molded glass containers in the United States.
In addition to his general market responsibilities, Gerry serves as the Director of Focus Management Group's healthcare practice. Gerry has a proven ability in leading healthcare institutions to improved profitability and operating efficiency. In recent successful healthcare projects, Gerry oversaw the successful refinance of an $85M skilled nursing chain, managed the operational analysis of a full-service, acute care hospital, resulting in significant cost savings for the organization and supervised the financial analysis of an MRI and diagnostic imaging facility. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of a $173M multi-state home health provider.
Prior to joining Focus Management Group, Gerry was the Director of Business Development for a nationwide turnaround management firm for over 7 years, where he was involved in over 40 turnaround situations.
In other prior roles, Gerry served as Vice President for a major financial institution, where he was the lead originator of its healthcare group with over $700M in commitments. He then launched its Mezzanine office in Chicago, investing $30M in the first year. As a Vice President at First Chicago Corporation (JPMorgan Chase), Gerry closed over $500M in commitments. While in a buyout group, he raised $50M in capital for an advertising/marketing services acquisition platform. He currently is on the Board of Directors of DiversityQuest, a multi-cultural data mining firm.
Gerry was awarded his BS in Finance and Economics from Northern Illinois University. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association.
