Gilles V.J. Pajot is executive vice president and president, Global Business Management, responsible for ensuring that IMS�s capabilities, offerings and services are leveraged effectively worldwide. Named to this position in January 2006, he is driving the continued globalization of the company�s business lines and consulting and services activities, and is overseeing IMS's marketing and communications organizations.
Previously, Pajot was executive vice president and president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, a position he held since November 2000.
Pajot joined the company in December 1997 as vice chairman of IMS and president of IMS, Europe. Previously, he was senior vice president at Pharmacia & Upjohn responsible for leading and implementing worldwide restructuring initiatives for the newly merged company.
From November 1995 to July 1997, Pajot was senior vice president of Pharmacia & Upjohn's Europe, Middle East and Africa Region. He also served as chairman of planning and analysis for the merger team that formed Pharmacia & Upjohn in 1995. Under his leadership, Pharmacia & Upjohn's European operations grew to an annual turnover of more than US$2.5 Billion, and achieved earnings growth of 22 percent in 1996.
In more than 23 years at Pharmacia AB, Pajot held positions of increasing responsibility, which included running Pharmacia and Procordia subsidiaries in France from 1979 through 1990, and serving as CEO and president of global Pharmacia Biosystems AB from December 1990 to July 1991.
From July 1991 to September 1993, Pajot was executive vice president of Kabi Pharmacia AB, and in September 1993 was named group vice president of Pharmacia AB in Sweden. In that position, he headed Corporate Business Management with responsibility for strategic planning, business development, marketing and branding initiatives. He also served as chairman of Pharmacia Ophthalmology AB and Pharmacia Diagnostics AB. Pajot became executive vice president of Pharmacia AB in September 1994, with responsibility for the company's Africa and Middle East operations.
A French national, Pajot holds a master's in biochemistry and chemistry from Rennes University and a BSc. degree from Nantes University. |
