With a Bachelors degree in Illustration and previous experience in Graphic Design, Gino first came to Trader Joe's after seeing a job posting for a Store Sign Artist online.
A typical day for Gino goes like this, "I get in as early as possible, usually by 4a.m., so I have plenty of time to finish my artwork by opening time. I check for notes left for me about displays that are coming up or requests for signs. If I'm working on a chalkboard, I work up a rough sketch, clean a board and dive right in! Otherwise I work on making shelf signs and making sure all the signs are in good condition and priced correctly."
How is working at Trader Joe's different than what people might think? "It really is like being part of a family" Gino says. "You don't just clock in, do your job, clock out and go. You make really great friends and get to know a lot of special people." |
