Giorgio Parmiani�s career began as a doctoral student in 1967 at the Istituto Nazionale per lo Studio e la Cura dei Tumori of Milano (INT). He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Cancer Research of Philadelphia from 1969 to 1970 under the supervision of R. T. Prehn, MD, then returned to INT as faculty. He is now deputy scientific director of the INT, and head of the unit of immunotherapy of human tumors and of the department of diagnosis and innovative therapies. From 1998 to 2002 he was also director of the PhD course in molecular oncology of INT, conducted in collaboration with the Open University of London. He is also professor of oncology at the University of Milan.
As an expert in the field of immunology and immunotherapy of tumors, he performed studies on experimental and human systems, and promoted and carried out many translational clinical protocols. He has been an invited speaker to several international meetings and has more than 400 publications to his name. |
