Gita Ramjee is chief specialist scientist and director of the HIV Prevention Research Unit of the Medical Research Council (MRC) in Durban, South Africa.
She also co-chairs the MRC�s Microbicide Development Program, and is head of the South African Microbicide Research Initiative. Ramjee joined the ICCR in 2003.
A leader in the microbicide field, she is a member of the International Working Group on Microbicides and sits on the Global Microbicide Initiative Steering Committee. She has a wealth of experience in running clinical trials of vaginal microbicides, and is one of the lead investigators in the phase 3 clinical trial of Carraguard�, the Population Council�s lead microbicide candidate. |
