Account Director Glenn Jeffries previously served as public affairs officer and deputy director of communications at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) in Charleston, SC. Glenn has over ten years experience with the federal government and is a graduate of the prestigious Defense Information School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Glenn was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award (second highest civilian award), was Employee of the Year (out of 1100 employees) and received the Harrison C. Capers Award (EEO) during her federal career. Glenn was the primary spokesperson for the organization, which employed over a thousand civilians and approximately 5000 contractors. She was responsible for all media relations and the marketing of the commands global mission and entrepreneurial philosophies. Within the community, Glenn secured and maintained working relationships with federal and state congressional members, raising awareness and influencing opinions and attitudes both inside and outside the organization. Glenn worked extensively with national and regional media providing information and access to leadership to raise public awareness of the economic consequences of base closure and realignment. She secured the Order of the Palmetto for one of the commanding officers during her tenure and had several top civilians featured in the Post and Couriers High Profile features. By example, Glenn was able to associate the organizations mission with global events, such as the war on terrorism, to provide the media a feature angle tied to a current event. Glenn and her staff of fifteen employees developed the commands Web site, produced a monthly newspaper, developed marketing brochures, and planned high level events such as congressional visits, building dedications and change of commands. Since her work with federal government, Glenn represented Sandpiper Retirement Center for Elizabeth Doles Bus Stop Whistle Tour. She spoke on behalf of the retirement center, handled all media relations, and prepared the residents for their role on and off camera. Glenn graduated from Converse College with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. She is a graduate of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class of 1996 and has served the community in various volunteer positions. She was a past communication vice president for the Junior League of Charleston, a board member of the Sullivans Island Park Foundation, a member of the School Improvement Council for Sullivans Island Elementary School, President of the Parent Guild at Second Presbyterian Kindergarten where she established an endowment fund, and serves the Alumnae Board at Ashley Hall. |
