Gloria Pena T. is Manager of Statistical Information since May 2008. Formerly she had been appointed Manager of Foreign Exchange and Statistics Compilation of the Central Bank of Chile as from December 2006; Manager of Foreign Exchange and Commercial Policy, from October 2003; and Manager of Foreign Trade and Commercial Policy, during the 2000-2003 period.
Previously she worked as Head of the Trade Policy Department and Technical Secretary to the Commission on Price Distortions.
Prior to joining the Central Bank, she was the First Secretary of the Chilean Mission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland, in charge of trade negotiations in the areas of market access, agriculture, dumping and subsidies. She also formed part of the negotiating teams for the Chile-Canada Free Trade Agreement and the Chile-Mexico Free Trade Agreement.
Mrs. Pe�a has a degree in commerce with a mention in economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She has taught at the International Studies Institute at the University of Chile and the diplomats� academy (Academia Diplom�tica Andr�s Bello). In 1999 she published a book on dumping and subsidies that provides analytical tools for Chilean exporters. |
