BSc, PhD, CP (Man), FAus, IMM. Grant Thorne has more than 31 years of Group experience. He was appointed Group executive Technology and Innovation in June 2007. Grant has a career covering a wide range of product groups and diverse geographical settings. With tertiary qualifications in metallurgy, he has filled senior operational roles in lead/zinc (Broken Hill), copper (Bougainville), aluminium (Weipa) and coal. He was vice president of research and technology for Rio Tinto's aluminium business in 1994-1995 before transferring to London as a Group mining executive. He was president director of Kaltim Prima Coal in Indonesia and then managing director of Rio Tinto's Australian coal businesses. |
