Greg Sherman completed his fourth season in his current role with the Avalanche front office. He was named Assistant General Manager during the summer of 2006 after spending the previous three seasons as Assistant to the GM. Sherman possesses a familiarity with the operations of the Colorado Avalanche organization, having been associated with the franchise for the last 10 years in various capacities.
In his role as Assistant General Manager, Greg works closely with Avalanche GM Francois Giguere on contract negotiations, arbitration cases, and matters concerning personnel at all levels of the organization. In addition, he oversees and coordinates all financial obligations of the club. His financial background plays a key role when it comes to dealing with bylaws, budget, and salary issues.
With a strong financial and accounting background, Sherman, 36, joined the organization in March 1996 as the Assistant Controller. He was promoted to Director of Retail Operations in June 1998.
Assuming the role of Senior Director of Retail Operations/Business Development in September 2001, Sherman continued to oversee the merchandising operations of the Avalanche, Nuggets and Pepsi Center while developing a comprehensive marketing plan for the three entities.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and raised in Denver, Sherman attended the University of San Diego, receiving his Bachelor in Accountancy in May 1992. Greg and his wife, Tamara, reside in Highlands Ranch with daughters Katelyn (5) and Delaney (2). |
