Dr. Mooradian has over 30 years of experience in support of a wide range of military and commercial applications prior to joining Apogen Technologies in April 1998. Dr. Mooradian provides concept innovation, technical leadership, program development and management of R&D through hardware delivery programs of national significance, ranging from non-invasive diagnosis and treatment of cancer to advanced multispectral sensors to laser communications with submerged submarines.
From 1994 to 1998, Dr. Mooradian served as Executive VP, CTO and Vice Chairman of the Board for Science and Technology International. He was responsible for all projects and grew STI by a factor of 10 in four years. Activities varied from hyperspectral imaging to spectral image processing and mission planning for NASA planetary probes.
From 1988 to 1994, Dr. Mooradian served as Corporate Vice President and Director of Technology for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). He provided technical leadership, business development and management of advanced electro-optic systems and directed up to 150 individuals.
From 1972 to 1988 Dr. Mooradian served as Chief Scientist and Program Manager at the Naval Ocean Systems Center (NOSC). He was responsible for the pioneering development of the Navy's Submarine Laser Communications System, providing continuous leadership for more than 15 years in a technology for which he is credited with both inaugurating and sustaining. His work revolutionized the understanding of optical propagation and channel characterization in the atmosphere, the marine boundary layer, and underwater.
Dr. Mooradian is the recipient of numerous awards including the first Tibbets Award for Outstanding DoD Small Business Innovative Research; SAIC's Science and Technology Award; Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service; DARPA Award for Outstanding Individual Performance; Lauritsen-Bennett Award for Science; DARPA Award for Best Laboratory Organization; Secretary of the Navy Commendation, Naval Research Advisory Council; Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award for Achievement in Science and NSF Presidential Appointment (Richard Nixon).
Dr. Mooradian received his Bachelor of Science from CSU Fresno and a Ph.D in Applied Physics from UC San Diego. He has authored or presented over 140 technical papers and holds more than a dozen patents. |
