Gregory E. Heltzer is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Washington, D.C. office. He is a member of the Firm's Antitrust and Competition Practice Group, where his practice focuses on defending mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures before the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, state antitrust authorities and foreign competition authorities, as well as complex antitrust and commercial litigation.
Greg has represented clients in transactions, investigations or cases in a variety of industries including: chemicals (industrial and fire retardants); defense products (simulation and training); explosives and detonators; food products and ingredients; glass production and packaging; healthcare services; medical devices; pharmaceuticals; software; and steel products.
Prior to joining the Firm, Greg served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable John A. Terry of the D.C. Court of Appeals.
During law school at Georgetown, he was a member of The Tax Lawyer. In 2003, he authored "Stalemate in the Aral Sea Basin: Will Kyrgyzstan's New Water Law Bring the Downstream Nations Back to the Multilateral Bargaining Table?" 15 Geo. Int'l Envtl. L. Rev. 291 (2003).
Before entering law school, Greg worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He also served as a Legislative Intern on the staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works under the late Senator John Chafee (R-RI).
Greg is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, the State of Maryland and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
