Gregory E. Murphy has been chairman, president and chief executive officer of Selective Insurance Group, Inc. since May 2000. He served as president and chief executive officer from May 1999 to May 2000; president and chief operating officer, 1997 to May 1999; senior vice president and chief financial officer, 1995 to 1997; and senior vice president, Finance, 1994 to 1995. He joined Selective in 1980.
Mr. Murphy has played an integral role in developing and implementing Selective's successful geographic and revenue diversification strategies as well as major automation initiatives aimed at making Selective the single source solution for its independent agents.
A graduate of Boston College, he holds the CPA designation and completed both the Harvard Advanced Management Program and the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management. He serves on the Newton Memorial Hospital Foundation board of trustees and the board of trustees of the American Institute for CPCU (AICPCU) and the Insurance Institute of America (IIA). |
