Experience: Gregory F. Lawson, a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is a senior partner with Goodman & Company, L.L.P. He has over 30 years of public accounting experience, with a focus in the practice area of business valuations, forensics and litigation services. Mr. Lawson also represents privately-held companies and high net worth individuals. He was managing partner of the certified public accounting firm of Eason, Lawson & Westphal, P.C. from 1993 to the end of 1999 when the firm merged into Goodman & Company, L.L.P. Mr. Lawson has prepared valuations for a variety of purposes including merger/acquisitions, buy-sell agreements, estate and gift taxes, stock issuance, stockholder disputes, marital dissolution, damage claims and unfair labor practices. He has performed valuations for companies in numerous industries including but not limited to the following: real estate, communication, retail, construction, printing, auto dealerships, industrial and ship repair, seafood processing, entertainment, insurance, family investments, restaurant, health care, transportation, wholesale distribution, research, private and public retirement plans, and manufacturing. Other Activities: Mr. Lawson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Virginia Tech and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants where he serves on the AICPA Council (the governing body of the AICPA.) Mr. Lawson has also served on the AICPA Forensic and Litigation Services Committee (FLS) and as the Co-Chair of the Business Valuation, Forensic and Litigation Services (BV/FLS) Editorial Advisory Board. Mr. Lawson is the Chair-Elect of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds the following business valuation credential: Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has qualified as an expert witness in business valuation, taxation, asset tracing, forensic auditing, present value of earnings and retirement plan valuations in various Federal Courts and Circuit Courts in Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and Florida. For 2007 and a number of prior years, Greg was designated as a "Super CPA" in the field of Business Valuation/Litigation by members of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and honored by Virginia Business magazine. |
