Guillermo Novo joined the Rohm and Haas Company in 1986 as a financial analyst for Polymers and Resins in the Latin American region. Through the years, he has held positions of increasing responsibility in Latin America including: account manager of Adhesives and Textiles/Non-wovens (1987), account manager of Construction Products (1989), and sales manager for the South Cone (1990).
He relocated to the company's headquarters in Philadelphia in 1993 where he served as market manager for Construction Products.
In 1996, Mr. Novo left Philadelphia to become the country manager for Rohm and Haas operations in Indonesia, where he assumed additional responsibilities for Specialty Polymers as Asia-Pacific regional business manager. Mr. Novo returned to Latin America in 1998 as regional director. He was promoted to the position of vice president and a member of the company's Leadership Council in 1999.
Returning to the corporate headquarters in 2002, he was named vice president and business unit director for the Consumer and Industrial Specialties business. In 2007, Guillermo was named vice president and business unit director for the new Process Chemicals and Biocides business.
In addition to his business unit responsibilities, in 2005 Guillermo assumed leadership for the Rohm and Haas Corporate-wide Diversity Efforts. In this role, he drives the company's culture change process and establishes the linkage of diversity to the business strategy.
Mr. Novo is a member of the board of directors for the United Way of Southeast Pennsylvania. He served as President of the United Way in Brazil (Associacao Caminhando Juntos) from 2000 to 2001.
Mr. Novo earned his B.S. in Engineering at the University of Central Florida in 1984, and his MBA from the University of Michigan in 1986.
