During his 22-year career with Vulcan Materials Company, the nation�s foremost producer of construction materials, Mr. Mitchell rose from the position of foreman to senior vice president. In his last assignment at Vulcan, he had total P&L accountability for a strategic business unit with sales of $500 million.Mr. Mitchell left Vulcan Materials Company in 1996 to found Mitchell Industries Inc., which subsequently purchased DeSHAZO Crane Company, a leading manufacturer of overhead and gantry cranes in the United States. In 1998, Mitchell Industries formed Mitchell Investment Company to own and develop commercial and residential real estate. In 2003, Mitchell Industries formed a new operational unit, DeSHAZO Service Company, one of the largest providers of parts and services for overhead cranes in the United States.A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Mr. Mitchell has served on the boards of numerous community service and charitable organizations. Mr. Mitchell received a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. In 2002, he was elected a Distinguished Fellow of The College of Engineering at The University of Alabama. |
