Gwen Mayes, JD, MMSc, Government Relations, leads hospital advocacy and public policy efforts and serves as primary liaison to the FDA, NIH, CMS, and healthcare associations. She has nearly 30 years experience in clinical care, health law, and public policy formation. Prior to joining Abiomed, Gwen was a practicing attorney specializing in medical malpractice defense, and she has held leadership roles with the Department of Health & Human Services with the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network and the National Scientific Registry of Transplant Patients. Gwen received her AB in biology and pre-medical studies from Transylvania University, her Master of Medical Sciences (Intensive Respiratory Care) from Emory University, and her Juris Doctorate with honors from the University of Maryland. |
