Hal Clements concentrates his practice in the areas of labor relations, employment, and equal employment opportunity. He reviews and counsels clients on employment practices ranging from questions and techniques for applicant interviews through the termination process. He also provides review of employment applications and appropriate information for personnel files, job descriptions, performance appraisals, progressive discipline and AAP compliance. He assists in employment terminations including reduction in force planning, reviewing documentation and applicable laws on particular termination cases, design of final warning and censure forms, and assisting with unemployment compensation claims, employment contracts and severance or separation agreements. He provides counseling on a range of general employment issues such as application of Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Fair Labor Standards Act (wage and hour practices); he also develops employment policy and procedures. Mr. Clements assists in the defense of NLRB and EEOC/state agency charges of unfair employment practices and defends lawsuits in both state and federal courts related to employment issues and alleged discrimination. He also conducts training programs for management personnel in employment discrimination laws including sexual harassment, and labor relations issues.
