Mr. Tan holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley with an emphasis in vehicle positioning, guidance and control systems. He has designed and demonstrated a variety of automated vehicle guidance & control systems for: platoon driving passenger cars and buses driving at freeway speeds and boarding and discharging passengers; large truck automation & control; hi-tech snowplow with automated guidance in working environments; vehicles performing high-g maneuvers, automated lane changes, and driving backwards. His automation projects have been demonstrated across the USA as well as in many international locales. He has published over 80 papers in the area of guidance systems and is considered to be one of the top vehicle automation project leaders in the world. |
