Hanif was appointed Group Finance Director in February 2005 and joined both the Board and the Operating Committee.
Since joining BT in 1983, he has held a variety of roles in the company's UK and international divisions. In 1998, he went to Northern Ireland and took up the post of finance director BT Northern Ireland and in 1999 he was appointed chief executive of BT Northern Ireland. Hanif was also chairman of OCEAN Communications (BT's subsidiary in the Republic of Ireland) from June 1999 to September 2000. In April 2002, he was appointed managing director BT Regions. In September 2002, Hanif returned to London as chief finance officer for BT Wholesale and in January 2003, he was awarded the OBE for his services to business in Northern Ireland.
Hanif holds a BA Honours degree in mathematics, operations research and economics from Essex University. He was born in Uganda and is 45 years old. |
