Hans-Kurt L�bberstedt is senior vice president and managing director of Asia Pacific for Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division. L�bberstedt and his organization are responsible for all aspects of Siemens PLM Software's business in the Asia-Pacific region, including sales, services, implementation, training and support. His group is extending the company's market presence by establishing long-term partnerships with the majority of the fortune 500 manufacturing companies in this region. Formerly he was vice president and general manager for European Operations with Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC), a leading provider of mechanical design and product development software and services. He was promoted to that position in 1999 after being responsible for the German speaking part of Europe as general manager since 1995, when he joined SDRC. L�bberstedt was appointed to his present position in 2001, when EDS acquired SDRC and merged it with Unigraphics Solutions Inc., to form the PLM Solutions line of business later known as UGS PLM Solutions. From 1982 through 1994 he worked for Applicon, a leading provider of CAD/CAM software and part of the Schlumberger group. He started as country manager for Switzerland, advanced through several sales and management positions and spent the last four years as vice president for Europe operations and as a member of the Management Team of Applicon Inc. Prior to his time at Applicon, L�bberstedt operated his own engineering services company from 1974 through 1982. L�bberstedt received his mechanical Engineering Diploma from the graduate University of Engineering in Zurich, Switzerland in 1974. He has continuously developed his education and management skills through numerous courses most notably the Schlumberger Management Forum in Paris and the Krauthammer Leadership Academy in Geneva. L�bberstedt currently resides in Hong Kong with his wife, Xenia, and son, Maxim. His grown daughters, Rahel and Nadine, reside in the Zurich area. Hans-Kurt L�bberstedt spends his spare time with his family. He enjoys skiing and other outdoor activities, musical events and the theatre.
