Harry M. Makler is a Professor of Sociology, Emeritus, at the University of Toronto and Visiting Scholar at Stanford University. His research, supported by the National Science and Ford Foundations, focuses on bank transformation in the Americas and its implications for public policy, entrepreneurship, the development of industrial leadership and institutional transformation. He has extensive experience in financial sector reorganization and most recently has analyzed the policy implications of deregulation and privatization of public banks in Brazil. Dr. Makler has served as consultant to international financial organizations, foreign governements, NGOs and corporations on investment banking, changes in banking regulations, and has advised foreign universities in Portugal, Russia, and Brazil on the development of applied programs in higher education. He specializes in project design and the application of survey and case study research to enable multivariate analysis of financial organization and regional financial and industrial markets. |
