Harry Engelstein is a co-founder of Engle Homes, which was acquired by Technical Olympic, Inc. in 2000. Mr. Engelstein began his career in homebuilding in Montreal, Canada, in 1960 as a contractor and later he formed a development company with his brother. Their Canadian company developed subdivisions of single-family homes, town houses, and apartments. He managed all aspects of the operation including land acquisition, purchasing, construction, and sales.
In 1968, his brother moved to Florida while Harry Engelstein remained in the building industry in Montreal. In 1979, Mr. Engelstein moved to Florida to join his brother, and together they formed Engle Homes. The company grew rapidly, becoming one of the largest homebuilders in the South Florida market and expanding into other markets as well, including Texas, Colorado, Arizona, and Virginia.
In 1992, Engle Homes went public, and Mr. Engelstein served as Executive Vice President. Today, Mr. Engelstein holds responsibility for TOUSA Homes' Florida region.
