Hassan ElKhatib is a Managing Director in the Middle East and North Africa group, focusing on opportunities in Egypt and Northern Africa. He is based in Cairo.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Khatib was a Managing Partner of EFG-Hermes Private Equity, a subsidiary of EFG-Hermes, the leading investment bank in the Middle East, where he managed and raised several generalist and industry focused funds. While at EFG-Hermes, Mr. Khatib served as a Chairman of the Board of Wadi ElNile Cement, a Director in several companies including SidiKrir Petrochemicals, SODIC real estate development, Arafa Group for textiles, Otsuka Pharmaceutical, General Motors Egypt, ACE-CIIC Insurance company and others. Prior to EFG-Hermes, Mr. Khatib was Assistant General Manager at AlAhly for Development and Investment for five years.
Mr. Khatib is also active in community work, he is a board member of the Egyptian Institute of Directors, the Egyptian Junior Business Association, the Public Insurance Holding Co. and a member of the Economic Committee of the National Democratic Party highest Policy Council.
Mr. Khatib has an accumulated 12 years of private equity experience. Mr. Khatib received his M.B.A. from California State University Sacramento, where he was Beta Gamma Sigma. Mr. Khatib holds a CMA certification from the Institute of Management Accountants USA. Mr. Khatib has a B.Sc. in civil engineering from Cairo University. |
