Helene L. Kaplan, age 73, has been Of Counsel to the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP since 1990. She is a Director of The May Department Stores Company and Verde Exploration, Inc. She is a former Director of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., ExxonMobil Corporation and Verizon Communications, Inc. Mrs. Kaplan is a Member (and former Director) of the Council on Foreign Relations. She is Chair of Carnegie Corporation of New York, and is a Trustee and Vice-Chair of The American Museum of Natural History. She is Trustee Emerita and Chair Emerita of Barnard College and Trustee Emerita of The J. Paul Getty Trust , and The Institute for Advanced Study. Mrs. Kaplan is a Fellow of the American Philosophical Society and a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Mrs. Kaplan received a bachelor�s degree, cum laude, from Barnard College and a law degree from New York University Law School. She is the recipient of honorary degrees from Columbia University and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Mrs. Kaplan has been a Director of MetLife since August 1999 and a Director of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company since 1987. |
