Henry Hirschberg was named President of McGraw-Hill Education on November 1, 2002. He joined McGraw-Hill Education in January of 1999 as President of the unit's Higher Education, Professional, and International (HPI) Group.
Under Henry's leadership HPI achieved consistent double-digit revenue and profit growth. He also led successful efforts to integrate technology across HPI's product mix and to expand the McGraw-Hill Education franchise globally.
Before joining McGraw-Hill Education, Henry was President of Pearson plc's Higher Education Group. He also held various management positions within educational publisher Simon & Schuster, including president of its International Publishing Group.
He began his career in 1972 as a sales representative at Prentice Hall in Europe covering the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East. In 1977, Henry became Prentice Hall Europe's Editor of Computer Science and Business at their main office in London. In 1979 he was promoted to Executive Editor and in 1982 to Managing Director for the United Kingdom, Europe, Middle East and Africa. He was named President of Simon & Schuster International in 1985. He returned to the United States in 1992 after being appointed President of Simon & Schuster Higher Education.
Born in Geneva, Switzerland, he is fluent in French and has a working knowledge of three other languages. |
