Henry Miller has more than 20 years of experience in communications and public affairs - managing the reputation, visibility and public policy issues of corporations, government agencies and nonprofit organisation, both domestically and internatinally. He has served as a managing Director at Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart (Ogilvy public relations Worldwide), one of the Top 10 public relations firms in the world; as Chief Executive Officer of New York '92, the nonpartisan organisation created to manage New york City's hosting of the 1992 Democratic National Convention; as Deputy Chief. Administrative officer of the city of Atlanta, responsible for external affairs, and as an Advisor to two U.S. Ambassadors to the United Nations. His current and recent clients include, among others; Americans for the Arts, Carat, Common Good, Court TV, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Intermountain Healthcare, MSNBC, the River to Rivewr Restival, southern living, and U.S. News & World Report. As CEO of "New York '92" from 1990 to 1993, Miller was responsible for all of the hosting obligations and promotional activities undertaken by the City of New york in connection with the Democratic convention, managing a $27 million budget, raising $6.5 million in private-sector funding and development additional events that would effectively promote New York worldwode as a tourism and convention destination. New York '92's hosting of the convention was so successful that it was praised by The New york Times as a "watershed event for New York tourism in the 1990s." Prior to joining New York '92, he was Director of Government & community Relations for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Before that, he was Director of policy & planning for the New York state urban Development corporation. From 1982 to 1985, he was Deputy Chief Administrative officer of the City of Atlanta, Where he was responsible for handling external affairs, including all issues of public controversy, federal and state government relation and international trade promotion. Prior to that, he served as an Advisor to two U.S. Ambassadors to the United Nations (Andrew Young and Donald McHenry0, Where he won the U.S. state Department's Superior Honor Award for his work on behalf of independence for Namibia. He previously worked as a Legislative Assistant to then-corgressman Andrew young in Washington, D.C. Miller holds M.A. and B.A. degree in Sociology from the University of Virginia. |
