Herman H. Chang is a Senior Director in the Asia Buyout group focused on investments in the industrial sector. He is based in both the Hong Kong and Shanghai offices.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Herman was one of the top managers in Asia Pacific at Delphi, the leading auto components company in the world. He was Managing Director, Global Fuel Handling and Evaporative Canisters and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Powertrain Systems. During a 20 year career span at General Motors and Delphi, of which 10 years were in Asia/China, Herman has held a number of senior positions including President, Delphi China and Director of Asia Pacific Operations. His management experience encompasses product development, manufacturing and general management. As part of the Asia Buyout team, Herman is expected to be deeply involved with helping our portfolio companies in value creation and to develop new deal opportunities in the industrial and related sectors. He will also serve as a resource to our global buyout effort in the Industrial and related sectors, especially in businesses where Asia Pacific has a significant impact.
Herman, originally from Taiwan, graduated from National Taiwan University with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He received Ph. D and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University. |
