Hong's practice focuses on acquisition of oil and gas properties (mostly international), project finance (both upstream and downstream), and mergers and acquisitions.
Hong started learning English at age six at home. At 19, she took a nationwide examination sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and passed first in the nation in English Literature and second in overall score in the category of Practicing Research Fellow. Because of her score, at 19 Hong started working for the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences as the equivalent to a college graduate. Two years later, she was accepted into the masters degree program at Oklahoma State based on her scholastic achievements. Without ever having any formal education in English, Hong's first job in the United States was to teach Freshman Composition to American college students.
