Horace Daniel carries the most tenure of any non-playing Falcons associate as he enters his 41st season with the team in 2007. During that dedicated span, he has missed only three Falcons games. Daniels' past experience on the Atlanta sports scene has included working on the construction side of building the old Atlanta Fulton County Stadium that housed the team prior to moving into the Georgia Dome in 1992. Daniel has been a part of equipment team that assisted the two NFC Super Bowl teams (XXVIII and XXXIV) that have played at the Georgia Dome, as well as participating in the Falcons' lone Super Bowl (XXXIII) appearance following the 1998 season. He's also worked a pair of Pro Bowls.
Horace is a native of Atlanta and has two children, Kim and Kennon, and five grandchildren, Brandyn, Briel, Keon, Kimyana and Devin. Brandyn plays football at nearby Clark Atlanta.
CELEBRATION OF A CAREER
On March 21, 2006, the Falcons organziation held a "Celebration of a Career" for long-time equipment man Horace Daniel at their Flowery Branch, Georgia facility. Former associates and players like Tommy Nobis, Jerry Rhea and Carol Breeding joined current staffers and players such as Michael Vick and Warrick Dunn along with Daniels' family to honor his career. A special program was created to commemorate the event and a video montage was also shown to those in attendance. The Falcons surprised Daniel by naming their equipment room after him on that day. The "Horace Daniel Equipment Room" is a lasting tribute to his long and distinguished career and will forever link him to the organization.
Daniel boasts having worked the most years of any equipment person in NFL history (to date) and the most by a non-playing associate in team history as he labored 40 years with the Falcons. He has been a part of some historic Falcons games, including all 14 post-season contests in club history, as well as Super Bowl XXXIII, and has worked with countless numbers of players and coaches. Daniel embarks on a new chapter in his life as he will stay connected with the Falcons by working part-time in his 41st season in 2007. |
