Howard A. Jenkins of Columbus, Mississippi, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association�s 88th International Convention held in Hong Kong, June 27-July 1, 2005.
Director Jenkins is in military personnel management.
A member of the Columbus East Columbus Lions Club since 1981, Director Jenkins has held many offices within the association, including club secretary, club president, council chairperson, multiple district Constitution and By-law Committee chairperson, Sight Foundation trustee, White Cane chairperson, Leadership Development chairperson and district governor. Additionally he served on the 2004 elections committee and as the Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing regional director, area director and state coordinator.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including two District Governor Extension Awards, one 100% Secretary Award, one 100% District Governor Award, two Presidential Leadership Medals, two Presidential Awards, six Presidential Certificates and one Founder�s Membership Growth Award. In 2001, Director Jenkins was inducted into the Mississippi Lions Hall of Fame. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Jenkins is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He previously served on the Boy Scout Executive Committee, Boy Scout Committee and was secretary for a Boy Scout troop for three years. In 2004 he was named an Ageless Hero by the mayor and city council.
Director Jenkins and his wife, Linda, also a member of the Columbus East Columbus Lions Club, have four children and six grandchildren. |
