Mr. Weaver was named Vice President, News in April 2001. He has spent more than 25 years in a variety of posts with McClatchy, including editor of the Anchorage Daily News from 1983 to 1995; editor of the editorial pages at The Sacramento Bee from 1996 to 2001; and assistant to the president for new media strategies from 1995-96. He is a member of the American Society of Newspaper Editors and has six times served as a Pulitzer Prize juror. He serves on the Board of Visitors of the Knight Fellowships at Stanford; is past president of the Alaska Newspaper Association and the Upper Yukon River Press Club; past board chairman of the Alaska Press Club; and was founding co-chair of the Northern News Service, an international press cooperative of arctic nations. |
