Mr. Sorgen is the former Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of the U.S. Private Client Group for Merrill Lynch, and brings more than 40 years of experience in technology and financial services to EEI's advisory board. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Sorgen had overall responsibility for technology strategy and all systems development areas serving the Private Client business. The technology budget was $500 million with a labor force of 2,000 systems professionals. Prior to his tenure at Merrill Lynch, Mr. Sorgen was Executive Vice President for Manufacturers Hanover Corporation, where he managed the company's global operations and information technology. In addition, Mr. Sorgen was President and Chief Operating Officer of a $100-million-dollar NYSE technology company. Mr. Sorgen has chaired numerous committees and organizations within the financial services sector and has been a frequent speaker at various information services forums. He is a former Board Member of the Securities Industry Automation Company (SIAC) and has served on the advisory councils of several leading technology companies such as Microsoft Corporation and Sun Microsystems. In addition, Mr. Sorgen served on the advisory board of Merrill Lynch's broad-based opportunity investment fund. |
